Spartan sponsors Quinella ka Dhamaka

Everyone loves a rags to riches story and turning a few hundred rupees to a few lakhs certainly qualifies. It was last Sunday that 55 year old Rajaram Yadav turned Rs. 200 into a massive Rs. 2,00,000 by participating in the Quinella ka Dhamaka sponsored by The Spartan Poker at the Mahalaxmi Racecourse. This fun innovation was introduced by the Royal Western India Turf Club at its Pune racing centre at the start of the season this year proved to be a huge success. Keeping that in mind, the managing committee decided to set up the Dhamaka contest in Mumbai too.

For racing newbies who are unaware, let us share with you what this Quinella Dhamaka is all about. Quinella is a type of wager one can place in a horse race. In a Quinella, the person can place a bet on a selection of two horses that he expects to finish in first and second place. The two horses can finish in any order provided they finish in the top 2 spots. For example, is you were to wager Rs 100 Quinella (3-7), you are betting on horse #3 and horse #7 to Win and Place in the race. Whether it ends 3-7 or 7-3, the bet is won. If horse #3 and/or horse #7 do not finish in first and second place, the bet is lost. Another, more precise variant of this wager is known as Exacta. Here, as the name suggests, you bet on the exact order in which the top two horses you pick will finish. Last Sunday Rajaram Yadav had the good fortunes of getting paid off in a huge way when his picks won him a 2 lakh payday. But you too could take a shot as this is an ongoing promotion which will take place at the Mahalaxmi racecourse over the next several weeks.

The Spartan Poker sponsored Quinella Dhamaka will take place over the course of the twenty Sundays in all and specifically on the 5th race of the Sunday. “The Dhamaka Contest will start from the first day of the season with Rs 2 lakhs and every Sunday we will have the same linked to totalizators. The cash prize will increase later between Rs. 2 – 5 lakhs. We even have found a sponsor for the same in The Spartan Poker,” informed Dr. Ram Shroff, the managing committee member of the Royal Western India Turf Club (RWITC). In recent months the Mahalaxmi racecourse has stepped up its efforts to bring in more patrons to the races.  The 39-day season, which also includes 23 days of under light racing, will get over on April 15. Virtually every weekend till then will feature a Graded/Sponsored race, the highlights of which are the Indian 1000 Guineas on 9-10 December and of course the Indian Derby which will take place on 3-4 February 2018. The Spartan Poker will build further on its association with a game of skill in horse racing as it is the primary sponsor of the oldest Classic race in India.

Besides the thrill of horse racing, visitors can also look forward to non-racing entertainment, with many food festivals and other showcase events taking place at the racecourse. “It is always a lively and fun atmosphere at the Mahalaxmi racecourse and we are glad to increase the excitement levels by sponsoring the Quinella Dhamaka right through the Mumbai racing season as well as the Indian 1000 Guineas in December which is one of the most well regarded races in the country,” said Sameer Rattonsey of The Spartan Poker. So if you are a racing fan and are interested in trying your luck at winning a whole bunch of money, then head on over to the Mumbai racecourse every Sunday and participate in both racing and non-racing events which are surely going to be a lot of fun.
