While some regions in India have imposed heavy fines for violating the lockdown rules and norms, there are plenty of individuals out there roaming freely and others who are engaging in gambling activities. In the month of June, we came across several such cases reported in Mumbai, Mira Bhayandar, a school headmaster and nine others detained in Tamil Nadu, 8 arrested in Hyderabad, Goa, or something as weird as a Donkey getting arrested for gambling in Pakistan.
In a recent update that came from Anvarganj area in Uttar Pradesh, where the police force arrested a total of thirteen individuals under the jurisdiction of Hanumantal Police Station in the midnight of 29 June, Monday. According to CSP, Gohalpur, Akhilesh Gaur, police started a new and special campaign against illegal gambling, trade and transportation of narcotic substances. It was during this campaign that the cops received information regarding a group of people assembled in Anvarganj area for bidding money on playing card deck.
These organisers who were not only violating the law by organizing illegal activity but also violating the prohibitory orders of lockdown imposed over COVID-19. The police took a prompt step and successfully busted the gambling den seizing INR 53,000 from the spot and arresting 13 people including Sonu Khatik, Bunty Khatik, Irfan Khan, Kotwali, Chintu Jain, Kotwali, Raja Ben, Anshul Choutel, Pappu Soni, Rajesh Khatik, Rahul Thakur, Rakesh Choudhary, Mohammed Raheem and Mohammed Wasim.
After a successful raid by police team comprising of SI, Prabhakar Singh, SI, Chandrabhan Singh, ASI, Ravindra Singh, Constables, Sudhir, Jagdish, Jaikishore, Satish, Satish and Rajkumar, the Hanumantal police have registered the case under Section 13 of Gambling Act.
