Eight arrested in gambling den raid in Hyderabad

A major urban locality and commercial area located in Hyderabad, Chikkadpally was raided by the Commissioner’s Task Force (Central) in the late hours of Tuesday night. The raid amounted to confiscation of INR 35,500 in cash along with nine phones from eight persons on charges of gambling.

A specialized group conducting raids, searches, and seizures, apprehending criminals involved in severe offences, the Commissioner’s Task Force busted into a house at Padma Colony in New Nallakunta. The host of the event was 42-year-old, Abdul Lateef Khan of Solar Vision who used to charge INR 500 as a commission to enter the game.

This isn’t the first time that Lateef Khan has been held on similar charges. In August 2019, the police smashed into a house at Domalguda which comes under Chikkadpally police station. That time too, Khan collected money from the participants to play the 3-card game at his premises. The Task Force detained 14 persons who were allegedly gambling and captured INR 42,220 in cash along with 16 mobile phones.

There have been innumerable cases of gambling den raids. Another matter that occurred two-days ago on 10 February at JLNS Nagar in Hyderabad. The Rachakonda Special Operations Team busted the house of S Parmesh who collected money after inviting people to play card games. There, the police held 6 individuals involved in and seized INR 11,480 in cash along with six mobile phones.

Another big operation took place in December 2019, when the police arrested Abdul Rab Khan and Vijay Harawadekar, who allegedly ran a club where the game was being hosted. As many as 93 people were put behind bars after the raid on a gambling den in the Thane. The police took away INR 1.92 Lakhs from the spot.

However, in yesterday’s Chikkadpally case, all eight persons along with their properties were handed over to the Chikkadpally police station for further investigation. For the latest news and updates on the gaming or poker industry, keep reading GutshotMagazine.com and stay tuned!
