With over 496k recovered so far, the government of each state is taking stern measures to curb the virus from spreading. In the month of June, we came across several gambling den busts in India and in spite of arresting the law breakers, a number of people are still roaming around freely, engaging in illegal activities.
Last we heard of a gambling activity rolling out from Gujarat’s Ahmedabad was on 6 June when the police arrested 11 individuals in Greenwood Resort in Ognaj and captured INR 3.25 Lakh. Those arrested were booked under sections of Prevention of Gambling Act by the Sola HC police station.
On Wednesday, 8 July, Local Crime Branch (LCB) personnel raided a gambling den and booked the accused for not wearing a face and refusing to maintain the social distancing norms. The police conducted the raid based on a tip-off, and searched the house of Rakesh Patel in Vinayak Flora flat, Raysan Village. LCB cop, Rakesh Mukeshsinh said that an FIR has been filed with Infocity police in Gandhinagar.
When the police entered the spot, they found six people sitting in a circle without masks and two others sitting near the group. The cops were successful in detaining 8 individuals and capturing INR 2.04 Lakhs, nine phones worth INR 37,000, three cars worth INR 8.41 Lakhs.
