HalaPlay, one of the countless fantasy sports websites popping up in recent times, had recently made headlines when Delta Corp, India’s only listed gaming and hospitality company, divested its shares from LeagueAdda to HalaPlay, owning a minority stake in the latter.
In another development in the fantasy sports provider, the company signed Team India members Hardik Pandya (pictured below, left) and his brother Krunal Pandya as their brand ambassadors just before the start of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which kicked off last Saturday.
Both the Pandya brothers play for the Ambani-owned Mumbai Indians (MI). The second league game on Sunday was between MI and Delhi Capitals (DC), and it was also Krunal’s birthday on Sunday.
As the partnership states, the brothers will both represent HalaPlay in a variety of its campaigns across various channels. They will be in a brand war with Virat Kolhi, MPL’s brand ambassador, MS Dhoni, Dream11’s brand ambassador, Suresh Raina, who recently was signed by Fantain as its brand ambassador and Prithvi Shaw, Fanmojo’s brand ambassador.
HalaPlay already started its advertising campaign on various channels.
The fantasy sports sector is a burgeoning industry, and many big and small companies alike have, in recent times, opened their fantasy sports shops to grab a piece of the pie. Notably, Paytm, My11Circle, Sugal & Damani’s KhelPlay are the newest entrants, although Paytm’s offering isn’t real-money based but this may soon change.
