What a $112 Million jackpot makes you do !

In the year 2007, Cynthia P. Stafford, a single mother of five from California was struggling to make ends meet. She won a whopping $112 million jackpot in the Mega Millions lottery which turned her world upside down !

She recalled the moment, simply standing there and crying for a minute at the magic of the power of positive thinking. Stafford played the lottery at least two to three times a month and meditated to see herself winning the jackpot almost everyday. She said, “I had been focusing on winning for so long that when I did finally win, it didn’t even feel random; it felt like I had made it happen. My trick? Whenever I bought my ticket, I would visualize winning. I even chose that exact number: $112 million. I decided that I would win that amount.”

The lucky winner hired a lawyer and fought the system in order to get her children back because she had sent them to a foster care center due to her inability to raise them on her own in a 1,100 square foot house. After winning the Jackpot, she purchased a bigger property, like the one her kids asked for. She then upgraded her car to a Mercedes-Benz R-Class, set up college funds for all five children and donated to charities which she had always admired. Stafford said, “You have to prepare yourself for wealth.”  This is a snippet from an interview of hers with ABC news: 

She says, once you win, being charitable is a great thing to do because “as you give, so shall you receive”. She also used a part of her winnings to start up a production company called Queen Nefertari Productions and went on to help with projects such as the Polish Bar and The Brass Teapot. Today, the company is financing at least 3-4 feature films per year and is looking to expand its multi-million dollar fund. Stafford is also hosting an online talk show called, ‘Hearts of Angels Network with Cynthia Stafford’ which focuses on drawing attention on local charities in the Los Angeles area. Stafford admits, “I still play the lottery once a week. After all, it’s only a couple of dollars.”

She is the perfect example of rags to riches. In April 2007, her finances were tight and she was about to lose her house and was delving into early stages of depression. Just the next month, She become a millionaire.
