FAU-G Aims To Set The Mark For Games Made In India

Fearless and United – Guards (FAU-G) launched on Republic Day i.e. January 26 has hit more than 3 Lakhs downloads in the first 24 hours of the game’s release.

Vishal Gondal, an advisor and investor at nCore Games said, “We were working on a war-themed game, since 2019. The idea of associating the game with ‘Bharat Ke Veer’ was suggested by Akshay Kumar, who also came up with the name FAU-G.”

He further added that FAU-G was based on what happened to the Indian army in the Galwan Valley. In order to keep the game true to the source material, Gondal said that the game will mainly have hand-to-hand combat as soldiers in Galwan Valley also had no weapons.

With the story mode for the game being released on the launch day itself, the company also plans to release many more versions of the game (FAU-G) in the coming years. “A game is not like a movie so there will be many versions. Games have a life of 5-6 years, something like PUBG, which has been around for 4-5 years. Call of Duty has been around for 15-20 years now. We will keep on adding more missions, more maps, more weapons, multi-player mode, battle royale mode. All this will be rolling out through the year,” Gondal added.

FAU-G Pre-Registrations Available On Google Play

While, FAU-G will earn revenue through in-app purchases and ads, Gondal also added that 20 percent of the gross revenues will go to ‘Bharat Ke Veer,’ a fund-raising program of the Union Home Ministry for members of the Indian paramilitary forces who have died in the line of duty. “Our hope is that gamers who want to support the country’s bravehearts at the same time can enjoy a game and contribute positively to the lives of our warriors.”

Addressing the question of whether FAU-G will takeover PUBG, Lokesh Suji, Director of Esports Federation of India, said, “PUBG is a multiplayer game and FAU-G is a storyline game. If the team behind FAU-G builds a multiplayer mode, then, why not?”

Even before its release, FAU-G already had over 4 million pre-registrations on Google Play and has also garnered a lot of support. Currently, it aims for the kind of success that Ludo King had in India. The game Ludo King was developed by Mumbai-based studio Gametion Technologies, which was also the first Indian game with more than 500 million downloads.
Gondal also expressed that the Indian video game industry should promote more homegrown games like FAU-G and Ludo King along with other games like WCC, Raji, Hit Wicket etc.

“Making a video game is just like making a movie. There’s a lot of money required to build a great game. But even with all resources, it is possible that your game still may still not appeal to the audience. Therefore, it’s riskier than making a movie,” Suji explained. This is why the popularity of games like FAU-G is important to help boost Indian development studios to create more indigenous games.
