2018 APT Korea Championships Begins Today
The number of poker tournaments and series in Asia is increasing every year and now, these series have even started clashing with each other. The Asia-Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) is currently taking place in Manila (4-12 August), and today, the Asia Poker Tour (APT) is set to begin a tournament series in Korea.
The 2018 APT Korea Championships is set to take place between 8-19 August at Paradise City, Incheon, South Korea, and huge amounts are waiting to be won in the series. Asian players have been looking forward to this day since a couple of months now, and it's all set to kick off.
Two of the main tournaments at any APT series are the APT Main Event and the APT Championships Event, which will here have a buy-in of KRW 1.1 million (~INR 67k) and KRW 1.65 million (~INR 1 lakh) respectively. The side events begin today while the highlight events will run on consecutive days starting 10th August.
Another exciting prospect of this series is that it marks APT's complete move to Big Blind Ante tournaments. For those who don't know as yet, Big Blind Ante refers to that format of the game, where the player at the Big Blind pays the Ante for every player seated at the table.
Most would expect an added participation of Indians at this series, with Baadshah Gaming recently partnering with APT to give away APT packages to live events across Asia. However, most of the top Indian pros are currently at the APPT Manila series, with 2 Indians progressing to Day 3 of the APPT National and 16 progressing to Day 2 of the Shot Clock Event.
That series runs until the 12th of this month. A few may catch a flight to play in the APT Korea Championships, but it's highly unlikely, with most expected to fly down to Rozvadov to play in the inaugural The Indian Poker Series (TIPS), which kicks off on 14th August at Kings Casino.
