Do you realize that the 2020 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is just three months down the lane? And that means you can already start planning for your next summer camp! We are sure that Las Vegas is pulling you once again to enter the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino in the most prestigious and longest-running tournament series.

The 51st annual WSOP will be awarding 101 gold bracelets from the previous record of 89 handed out in 2019. A total of 87 events live will be held at the venue another 14 online events will be played within the borders of Nevada and New Jersey who will be battling on WSOP.com.

WSOP has been updating us since late in 2019 with the series announcing $1,500 buy-in events, information on the popular ‘value menu’, online events and broadcast schedule. A total of 93 had been announced earlier with the final 8 being released on 27 February.

Although many poker players on Twitter have been a bit concerned about the series due to the coronavirus epidemic, the WSOP’s director of corporate communication, Seth Palanksky said, “We’ve been monitoring the situation and will continue to lean on the experts in this field for guidance. At this time, all our events and schedules remain intact and are planned to go on without interruption. We would be prepared to expand measures to ensure the safety of our guests and employees, again leaning on the experts.”

The WSOP release also updated that more events will lead to crowding the halls of Rio. They will be separating their in-person registration and payout process for the first-time into different rooms to ease congestion. “There is no doubt we need to do a better job of getting people in their seats and playing poker faster,” said WSOP Executive Director, Ty Stewart “We’ve looked closely at several areas in the off-season and are dedicating new resources – technology, equipment, and people – to aid in these efforts in 2020. These changes, in conjunction with better informing guests of the required documents needed to register, make us optimistic it can lead to a noticeable improvement.”

The eight new events are as follows:

In 2020 WSOP, the players will have to bring Caesars Rewards loyalty card, which can be reprinted or obtained for the first time in the Rotunda of the Rio convention center. Buy-in options include cash, credit/debit cards, wire transfer or cashier’s check drawn from the registrant’s accredited bank account and made out to the Rio, Rio gaming chips and Rio tournament buy-in chips/credits.

Next door, Palma Ballroom will become the payout office where the top finishers can earn for their efforts. Additionally, there will be 20 kiosks around the WSOP area where the players can utilize online registration system to select their particular event, buy-in and print their assigned seats.

“The WSOP Tournament Account is a no-brainer for anyone who plays more than a couple of WSOP events annually,” said Daniel Negreanu in the press release. “Literally I went to the registration cage once to set it up, then utilized the self-serve kiosks the rest of the summer to register for any event I wanted to play. I was in and out of the kiosk in less than a minute and on my way to my seat."

The 2020 WSOP is set to take place from 26 May to 15 July. Online registration for events is expected to be available as early as April. For the latest news and updates on the gaming or poker industry, keep reading GutshotMagazine.com and stay tuned!
