Alpheus Chan leads PPWC Main Event Day 1B
Just yesterday, we spoke about the ongoing PPPoker World Championship at Resorts World Manila and how we have a decent Indian contingent at the event. While Team India couldn't finish in the money in the Teams Event, the PHP 20 Million GTD Main Event seems to be a good outing for them so far.
A couple of days back, Abhinav Iyer ended as the chip leader in Day 1A of the PHP 55,000 (~INR 75,000) buy-in Main Event, followed by Kalyan Chakravarthy in 2nd place and Aditya Sushant in 4th. Then, Day 1B was played yesterday, where a total of 108 players participated and one Indian player bagged his chips at the end of play.
The player was none other than Rajeev Kanjani, who finishes with a respectable stack of 82,800, which is something he will be looking to multiply on Day 2 tomorrow, 19th February. Names like Sajal Gupta, Sumit Sapra, Dhanesh Chainani and others participated on Day 1B, but Kanjani was the only Indian from the 46 to progress.
The chip leader at the end of the day was Canada’s Alpheus Chan with a stack of 273,500, which was higher than Day 1A's chip leader Iyer, who has 250k. Adding to 22 from the first flight, a total field of 68 players will continue to Day 2, but we still have Day 1C to be played at 2pm Manila time today.
Day 1B top ten chip counts:
- Alpheus Tin Ho Chan - 273,500
- Ysmael William Lim - 266,500
