And the Destiny 9.0 title goes to Sahil Mahboobani...
If you talk about some of the most popular online poker promotions in India, Spartan Poker's Destiny has to pop up in your head. It has run nine long editions, with each edition always sending one poker player to an international location to play poker. However, Destiny 9.0 saw a new format where three players shared prizes in the Finale SnG and this finale took place last night on Spartan.
After ten weeks of Destiny 9.0 and ten winners being selected, the Finale SnG was hosted yesterday, clashing with the all-important India vs Pakistan encounter in the 2019 ICC World Cup. All of these players were pre-registered to the SnG with their INR 1 Lakh tickets from winning their respective Destiny tournaments.
It was always going to be a tough game of poker as there were some really good players in the mix including Sumit Sapra aka '[email protected]', Abhinav Iyer aka 'Schumi91', Sriharsha D aka 'GTOsucks', and others. A few of these players would've been playing early in the morning as the time was in USA, since many of our players are in attendance at WSOP 2019.
These SnGs generally don't last too long and last night too, it began at 8pm and wrapped up by 12:09am this morning, with Sahil Mahboobani aka 'HomelessOnWiFi' emerging victorious. He won Destiny in the first week of May this year when he beat Ayan Ray in heads-up. When Gutshot contacted him, Mahboobani seemed delighted to have shipped his first ever SnG.
He beat some really top players to take down the top prize of INR 5,00,000, also outlasting 'Tiger10' in heads-up. The latter narrowly missed what would've been a memorable second Destiny SnG title, having shipped the Destiny 6.0 Finale SnG back in October last year. Here, he had to settle for INR 3,00,000 for finishing second.
