Andrew Donabedian wins Event #25 PLO; 3 Indians cash
Since the 2019 World Series of Poker (WSOP) is celebrating its 50th anniversary, there have been quite a few new additions to the schedule including Event #25: $600 Pot-Limit Omaha Deepstack which made its debut in the WSOP and recently concluded as well, with USA's Andrew Donabedian emerging victorious.
Donabedian is a regular WSOP Circuit grinder and this time, he decided to take it up a notch and win his first gold bracelet as well, to go with $205,605 in hard cash. This win saw him bagging the best live cash of his career and it took his live winnings past $330k, which was well deserved after topping a field of 2,577 entries.
Our Indian players also participated in the PLO Event, and three also managed to get a cash, finishing among the top 387 players who received a pay-out. Among them were Vivek Rughani who finished 294th for $1,026 (~INR 71,000) and Deepak Bothra who did slightly better, finishing 83rd for $1,856 (~INR 1.29 Lakh).
Abhishek Goindi was also among the Indian contingent and he ended with the biggest prize at this tournament, finishing 52nd for $3,606 (~INR 2.5 Lakh). Goindi kept his followers aware of his progress through regular posts on Instagram but he is done with his WSOP schedule for 2019, returning soon to India for other commitments.
Coming back to the winner of the tournament, it was Donabedian against Todd Dreyer in heads-up and the latter had to settle for the $126k runner-up prize. Talking about the win, he said, "I play a lot of the circuits and I have a lot of seconds and thirds. Been saving the win for the bracelet, I guess. It's pretty awesome. PLO seems to be getting a lot more popular every year, I think it's great! It's a lot more fun than hold'em."
