Ankit Jajodia beats Chandan Arora to win Spartan Half Price

Spartan Poker, always the innovator, has once again hosted a novel tournament yesterday as part of its Mystery Thursday promotion. Half Price INR 8 Lakhs GTD began at 7.30 pm in the evening a had a buy-in of INR 4,400. The unique aspect of the tournament is that if a player busts and wishes to re-buy, he/she will get a 50% discount on it!

Yesterday’s tournament ran for almost 6 hours, ending at 1.16 am today morning. The top 15 places received a piece of the overflowing INR 8,44,000 prize pool with the min-cash being INR 15,192. The field was filled with online regs from the country, and the total size amounted to 320 entries (including 218 re-buys).

Ankit Jajodia aka ‘Themagician06’ shipped the tournament for a good INR 2,15,642 as the first-place cash prize. Jajodia beat  Chandan AroraDark fish’ in the heads-up battle to secure this title. The Final Table itself had regulars like Rohit Mishra aka ‘ShippingYard’ (3rd – INR 97,482), Sam Anand aka ‘Lokimon’ (4th – INR 78,914), Siddhanth Kapoor aka ‘bullzeye’ (6th – INR 49,796) and Faiz Alam aka ‘DrStrange’ (8th – INR 29,962).

The star-studded FT on Spartan would’ve been a tough nut to crack for Jajodia but winning the tournament would’ve been equally satisfying. In the final hand, Jajodia already had a good chip lead. With Ac 6c, Jajodia jammed pre-flop Arora called with Kd Qc. The board revealed Qs 6s Jc Ah 2h and Jajodia easily took down the pot with Aces and Sixes over his opponent’s Queens. Arora eventually settled for INR 1,48,544 as second-place prize money.

Jajodia is fresh from winning Adda52’s 2nd edition DPT Xpress Main Event in Gangtok, Sikkim for INR 3.25 Lakhs. His online record is also decent, with titles like Spartan Mega Freeze and others. Recently, he made a title finish in PokerBaazi PPL Special Edition and looks strong heading into the future.

Gutshot spoke to Jajodia after his win and he said, “It has been a tough grind this week due to PPL. I feel good about the long-awaited run. I hope it goes well in the upcoming tournaments too. Trying to keep the process right and getting good results.
