Ankur Agarwal wins HI-FRI Stacks for INR 2.7L
9Stacks is a popular platform among poker aficionados among the Indian online scene. The company hosts a variety of exciting and action-packed events all around the year. Their daily feature tournaments are simply called the Stacks. These have INR 5 Lakhs GTD from Monday to Thursday, but Friday’s tournament, dubbed the ‘HI-FRI Stacks’ has a guaranteed prize pool of INR 10 Lakhs.
Last night’s HI-FRI Stacks attracted a total of 126 entries, including 46 re-buys. The buy-in of the tournament was set at INR 7,700 (700 fee) and an unlimited number of rebuys were allowed until late registration. The tournament began on 8 pm and went on late till today morning.
The winner to emerge from the grind was the well-known poker player Ankur Agarwal aka ‘FLOPZILA’. He took home a sizeable figure of INR 2,70,000 as 1st place cash prize, beating Praveen Kandela aka ‘praveenchandcr7’, who took home INR 1,90,000. Finishing 3rd yesterday was Akshay Pathak aka ‘Once’, winning INR 1,40,000 as his cash prize.
The champion, Agarwal, who hails from Delhi, isn’t new to winning tournaments at all. His handle ‘FLOPZILA’ is easily recognizable as it is a regular feature on various platforms, sometimes cashing big, sometimes shipping the whole thing altogether. He also shipped one of the Spartan Super Series (SSS) events back in August this year.
Gutshot got in touch with him after the victory, and he was obviously elated, saying “God has been kind and just to me and helped me improve my game. Hopefully, I will be able to learn a lot from the experience, irrespective of whether I win or lose.”
We also hope this win adds a welcome amount to his bankroll and enables him to cash out big in the future and ship some in the way too! The 4th place finisher saw another well-known player Arsh Grover aka ‘BigggTymeR’ fill the place and take home with INR 1,00,000 as cash prize. The guy won back-to-back titles on 9Stacks last month and is a well accomplished player online.
