APT Taiwan: Choy Wai Tak leads Day 1B of Championships Event

The Poker world is warmed-up with some of the greatest on-going tournaments. Recently, the WSOP Europe kicked-in at King’s Casino awarding gold bracelets to the worthy winners. The Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan is packed with thrilling action as the Championships Event at the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association ran Day 1B and another chip leader walked out claiming the day.

The starting flights saw 121 entries in total including 65 runners on Day 1B, each paying a buy-in of TWD 49,500. Although the guaranteed amount of TWD 6 million didn’t surpass, the event will remain open for final hour on Day 2, the players are expected to grow in numbers. Amassing the largest stack was Hong Kong’s Choy Wai Tak with 255,200 chips followed by Malaysian Lonris Yong Sin Wang with 232,800 chips.

Two days earlier, Choy lifted NLH Single Day trophy taking home TWD 130,700 first-place prize money. The chip leader earned his career-best live cash of $4,151 in 2019 PPPoker Festival Taiwan High Roller in May for finishing in 4th place.

Other notable players progressing to Day 2 include 2019 APPT Manila Saturday SuperStack winner Gary Thompson (130,000), the 2019 Manila Megastack 12 Six-Handed winner David Erquiaga (92,700), Ho Bao Qiang (80,000), the 2019 APT Philippines PLO champion Iori Yogo (55,300) and so on.

With only 39 survivors on Day 1B, both flights will combine on Day 2, scheduled to commence today (18 October) at 1 pm local time.
