APT Taiwan: Mike Takayama triumphs Head Hunter

Asian Poker Tour (APT) Taiwan is at its peak rewarding the second winner of the entire series this afternoon at Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CPT Club). Besides the BPT and APL, APT kicked off recently and awarded its second trophy to Filipino pro Mike Takayama crushing the final table and winning the Head Hunter event.

Head-Hunter was a two-day long event that attracted 75 players from various nations, each paid a buy-in of TWD 11,000. A prize pool of TWD 727,500 was created to be shared among the top 13 positions in the event.

The initial Day 1 came to a standstill after Takayama defeated the short-stacked Jinhyo Yoo. Only a small chunk of 8 survivors lead to the final table. Takayama, the chip leader from Day 1 was followed by Singapore’s Wilson Lim.

The heads-up battle didn’t take long, Takayama with Qc 7d playing against his opponent Frederik Kerckhof’s 9d 6c. Board 4c 5c Ks Ac Ah, Takayama won with single pair Ace and Q kicker to end the competition and lifting the prestigious title. He walked out of the tournament with TWD 1,59,800 (~INR 3.7 Lakhs).

The poker pro, Takayama sits 3rd in the Philippines’ All-Time money list with total live earnings of $1.24 million. Winning two consecutive tournaments in 2019 Manila Stack including NLH and NLH-KO. The Filipino earned his career-best live cash of $1,98,568 for winning the 2018 WSOP Manila Super Turbo Bounty.

Marking the end APT Taiwan’s second tournament, the attraction of the entire series is the Main Event TWD 6 million GTD and Championships Event 6 million GTD is scheduled to run from 16 – 19 October.
