APT Vietnam: Chan Kian Bing leads ME 1B; 3 Indians progress

Just yesterday, we spoke about the start of the APT Vietnam VND 8 Billion GTD Main Event, which is currently taking place in Pro Poker Club, Ho Chi Minh. It was a modest turnout on the first of three starting flights which saw India's Manoj Pentakota progressing among 20 survivors.

Day 1B however saw a better turnout both in terms of total numbers as well as in terms of Indian participation. After a slow start, entries increased during the day, eventually adding up to a field of 114 entries (107 unique and 7 re-entries). Some intense poker action took place during the day and after 8 levels of 1 hour each, 56 players bagged up to progress to Day 2.

At the top of these survivors is Malaysia’s Chan Kian Bing who progressed with a bag of 156,700 chips. This was enough not just to top Day 1B but to end as the overall chip leader going into Day 2 for now, with one starting flight still to be played. Two major APT title holders, Linh Tran and Huu Dung Nguyen also progressed.

It was a good day for Team India as well, with 3 Indians progressing including Sumit Sapra, Ashish Munot and Gaurav Sood. All these players are regulars in the online circuit while Sapra has a few live poker titles to his name as well. They progressed with stacks of 40,100, 31,100 and 30,300 chips respectively.

Day 1B top 10 chip counts:

  1. Chan Kian Bing - 156,700
  2. Guan Tian Liang - 135,200
  3. Antonio Martins - 123,700
