Arjanveer Chadha grabs Sunday SuperStack title
A typical Sunday on The Spartan Poker, or any leading poker site in India for that matter is an extravagant affair. A lot of high-stakes tournaments are hosted across platforms. Since Sunday is a holiday, thousands of poker enthusiasts play in these tournaments.
Such was the case on Spartan when it hosted three big tournaments all on the same day – Two of a Kind, Sunday SuperStack and Big Daddy. Sunday SuperStack INR 25 Lakhs GTD attracted a playing field of 545 entries (including 81 re-entries 188 re-buys), each coughing up the INR 5.5k buy-in. Top 50 places were paid for a min-cash of INR 13,625.
The player to overcome the haul of almost 7 hours, from 7.30 pm to 2.24 am, and ship the tournament was none other than acclaimed online grinder Arjanveer Chadha aka ‘instrumental’, taking home a whopping amount of INR 7,08,500 as 1st place cash prize. He bagged the title after beating ‘JuntaDel’ in heads-up.
The final hand saw Chadha with over 1.5:1 chip lead, not a significant one but he left his opponent penniless after the hand that followed. It was a pre-flop all-in situation and Chadha called his opponent’s Ah 7c shove with a decent hand of Kh Kd himself. His opponent was hoping to hit an Ace on the board but 4s 8c 3c Jc 7s just gave JuntaDel an indifferent pair of Sevens, enabling Chadha to lift the title and the cash prize. The runner-up had to settle for INR 4.36 Lakhs which is not a bad amount at all.
The champion, Chadha, needs absolutely no introduction. His online record is filed with multiple title wins from all sites. The Sunday SuperStack is his second biggest online win, after the first which was also on Spartan - SSS Elite HR –in September 2018. He has shipped many of Spartan’s feature tournaments earlier, like Elite, Triple Bubble, DareDevil and Mega Stack. Recently, he won Spartan’s 5 For 5 for INR 5 Lakhs too. The player will be looking to carry the trend forward in the year with this spectacular finish.
We got in touch with Chadha after his win and he said, “I was really excited to play this Sunday as I couldn't play the whole week due to illness. I had a couple of deep runs going and knew that I had to run good somewhere. Eventually it came in the right event as I ran like God on the Final Table. I’m really happy to have finally ship the SuperStack after numerous runners-up and thirds in this flagship event. This is my second biggest online victory, and both have been on Spartan.”
Since it was the second biggest tournament of the day, it saw a lot of regs and pros in the mix. Some of them to rank in the money include recent IOPC SHR winner Gokul Raj (11th), Rubin Labroo (17th), IOPC ME winner Ashish Munot (20th), IOPC Elite HR winner Kanishka Samant (21st), Goonjan Mall (25th), Nadeem Basha (28th), Ratul Steves (31st), Shardul Parthasarathi (33rd), IOPC Millionaire winner Joey Saha (38th), Sumit Sapra (45th) and Amit Ajwani (46th).
