Ashish Munot on Final Table of APT Championships Event

Posted On 14 Jul, 2019 0

Talk about any major online poker tournament in India and you will always find Chennai's Ashish Munot among the top finishers, if not the winner itself. He has been very consistently getting results in the last year or so and was especially praised for winning the IOPC Main Event earlier this year, becoming India's biggest online poker winning by pocketing INR 37+ Lakh.

He continued to build his online poker bankroll throughout the year and then set out to Ho Chi Minh a couple of weeks back to participate in the Asian Poker Tour (APT) stop at the Pro Poker Club in Vietnam. While he didn't make a big splash through the series, he is set to end the APT Vietnam tour on a high.

The VND 6 Billion GTD APT Championships Event is currently underway and Day 3 came to an end yesterday, with just 8 players still in contention to win this major APT title. Play halted when Tran Huy Hoang was railed in 9th place and when they return later today on Day 4, the final 8 players will battle it down to a winner!

As for Munot, he progresses with a stack slightly above 1 million chips and is currently third in chips out of the final 8. However, he's just about an average stack considering the chip leader Joseph Talamayan has zoomed past to 3,715,000 chips at the end of Day 3. Earlier in the day, India's Lakshpal Singh busted in 16th place for VND 83,160,000 (~INR 2.46 Lakh) while Sumit Sapra busted just before the money.

Day 3 chip counts:

  1. Joseph Talamayan - 3,715,000
  2. Oliver Helm - 1,476,000
  3. Ashish Munot - 1,041,000
  4. David Erquiaga - 934,000
  5. Vamerdino Magsakay - 893,000
  6. Nguyen Nam Duong - 637,000
  7. Tanaka Masatoshi - 439,000
  8. Lim Chor Heng - 390,000
