Ashish Munot takes down Mega Stack on Spartan Poker
You can call him the current IOPC Main Event champion or can even call him India's biggest ever online poker winner. He's Ashish Munot who plays as 'Donkey 07' on Spartan Poker and he's a prime example of an upcoming poker pro, putting in 2-3 hours of studies each day before the 7-8 hour grind begins each night.
Last night would've been one of his easier victories, completing a 6.25-hour grind to ship Mega Stack INR 12 Lakh GTD on Spartan. The field of 375 entries each paid the buy-in of INR 3,300 and eventually, the prize pool was shared among the top 31 finishers with a min-cash of INR 10,560.
Munot outlasted all these entries on the night and ended with the top prize of INR 2,34,756, beating a number of pros and ending the tournament after a deal on the Final Table. It was a rare 5-way deal on the FT as Munot took home the biggest prize and the next best prize of INR 1,89,923 went to 'Drifter2'.
Others who were part of the deal included 'gareeeeb', Faiz Alam aka 'DrStrange' and Siddarth SInghvi aka 'PeterPunter'. The tournament came to an end in Level #33 when the blinds had reached 5,000/10,000 - ante 1,020 and there was a PFAI situation between 'checkcall' and Drifter2. Both players hit a pair of Fours on the board but Drifter2 won with a higher Kicker, Jack.
Mega Stack is one of the most popular featured tournaments on Spartan Poker and Munot managed to add this title to his trophy cabinet, where a lot of other achievements already lie. Tonight's featured tournament is Destiny and Munot will be looking to find a way into the Destiny 9.0 Finale as well.
