Asian Poker Tour extends stay at Resorts World Manila...
The Asian Poker Tour (APT) is among the biggest brands in live poker in Asia and they host regular events throughout the year in venues like Taiwan, Vietnam, Manila, and many others. In a recent development, they renewed a contract to ensure their events in Manila keep growing over the next couple of years.
Currently, APT has a stop at the Resorts World Manila (RWM) where the Championships Event is underway, and another successful series will come to an end today on 22nd September. Now, the brand has signed another agreement with RWM which means this will be their home in Manila for another couple of years at the least.
As per the contract, APT will host at least two events a year at the Resorts World Casino, until the end of 2021. If the fields continue to grow in the venue, they may even further renew the contract in 2021. This is in fact the 10th year of the APT-RWM partnership which has seen a total of 24 events being held at the venue since the start of their association.
This includes the APT-RWM Iron Man Poker Challenge, which was hosted in 2013, a tournament which went down in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest, continuous running single poker tournament - 48 hours, 55 minutes, 58 seconds. The current APT Philippines stop also created a new Main Event record of 515 entries, creating a PHP 24,977,500 prize pool.
The overall series guarantee was also passed by the Main Event alone and such records may keep tumbling in years to come. With the new contract signed, the dates for 2020's APT Philippines events have already been finalized with one being between April 27 – May 10 and the other being between September 10 – 21, 2019.
