Bonomo and O'Dwyer Win EPT Monte Carlo High Rollers

As some may already know, the European Poker Tour (EPT) has a current stop at Monte Carlo and this tournament series kicked off with the €1,100 buy-in EPT National Event, on 25th April 2018. The event was won by French poker player Guillaume Diaz and the next event to take place was the €100k Super High Roller, where Sam Greenwood picked up a career-best win.

In the next few days, the Main Event kicked off along with a few side events and a couple of single day High Roller events. Poker pros from USA, Justin Bonomo and Steve O'Dwyer shipped the €25,000 High Roller and the €50,000 High Roller respectively, taking home handsome prizes for doing so.

€50,000 Single Day High Roller

Steve O'Dwyer has been having a great run in poker tournaments across the globe, featuring on several final tables since the start of 2018 and also winning a PCA High Roller Event in January, for $769,500. At EPT Monte Carlo too, he topped a field of 41 entries (including 11 re-entries) to bag winnings of €676,300 ($818,468).

"That was one of the most absurd final tables I've ever played. Luckily, I ran really hot all in. Made some good reads... and probably some bad plays. That's poker," said O'Dwyer after beating Nick Petrangelo in heads up. He also reached heads-up of the €25,000 Single Day High Roller, only to be beaten by Justin Bonomo. O'Dwyer's combined winnings from these two events took his career earnings past $22.5 million.

Final results:

  1. Steve O'Dwyer - €676,300 (~INR 5.4 crore)
  2. Nick Petrangelo - €467,410
  3. Steffen Sontheimer - €298,300
  4. Justin Bonomo - €228,700
  5. Daniel Dvoress - €179,000
  6. Rainer Kempe - €139,200

€25,000 Single Day High Roller

Gutshot reported news of Sam Greenwood winning the €100,000 SHR. Justin Bonomo finished 4th in that same event for €401,000, followed by another good run in the €50,000 SHR, finishing 5th for €228,700, with O'Dwyer ultimately winning that event (read above). It was only fair that Bonomo won a tournament himself, and that's exactly what happened in the €25,000 Single Day High Roller.

"It feels great. There have been three High Rollers here in Monte Carlo and I've cashed everyone one, so I don't have a single complaint in the world. It's an incredible streak I've been on," said Bonomo after beating a field of 50 entries (including 16 re-entries) to win the top prize.

It was just another day in the office for the poker pro, as he secured his fourth live poker title of 2018 and took his total career winnings past $26.5 million. He last made headlines when he scored a career-best cash of HKD 37,830,000 ($4,823,077) by winning the inaugural Super High Roller Bowl China.

Final results:

  1. Justin Bonomo - €378,000 (~INR 3.01 crore)
  2. Steve O’Dwyer - €273,200
  3. Erik Seidel - €174,100
  4. Timothy Adams - €132,100
  5. Bryn Kenney - €102,000
  6. Igor Kurganov - €78,100
  7. Nicola Grieco - €63,000
