Wednesday is all about getting over the mid-week hump and poker players from across the country did that quite well in last night's Electra tournament at The Spartan Poker. This daily featured tournament which has a buy-in of INR 1,650 is an attractive proposition for players who are aiming to get a share of a guaranteed INR 6 Lakhs on offer at this tournament. Last night thought this re-entry event saw 314 entries take up the prizepool of INR 7,41,000 which would be paid out to the top 47 finishers.
Standing tall above those finishers was Bangalore-based Chiraag 'Drunkenf1st' Patel who scored a payday of INR 1,44,420 for his efforts in outlasting the field. He defeated Delhi's 'Aniljoy' in heads-up to claim the title, "The tournament was a turbo fun grind. I actually busted my first bullet early on and entered again with just one min left to spare on the clock. Ran pretty good to say the least. The final table was quite quick as well. Really good payout up top for a 1650 buy-in tournament " This 20-something year was obviously pleased with his mid-week score for almost 1.5 Lakhs which he likely will use in his upcoming Asian poker trip, "Just heading for the APL series in Vietnam for now and hope to do well there."
It took just 45 minutes for the 8-handed table to come to headsup between Patel and Aniljoy. His elimination of 'Dr.infinitipower' in third place consolidated Patel's chiplead to 2.5:1 over his opponent. As he mentioned earlier, the final table was quick but heads-up was even quicker with the winner being declared within 10 mins of the HU battle. Both players traded a number of pots between them but Patel was firmly in the lead when a stack of 2.7 million chips versus the 700k stack of Aniljoy. Catching Big Slick (Ks As), Patel wasted no time in reraising his opponent all in who called with Tc Kd. It was a great flop for the underdog who hit two pairs on Kh Qh Ts. A 6s on the turn started the invariable sweat for Aniljoy who was hoping for a small red card. But the river Qs put paid to those hopes as Chiraag Patel claimed the Electra with a flush. Aniljoy would have to settle for second place and allow his payday of INR 91,735 soothe the pain of his loss.
