Dhaval Mudgal, Maddy Gupta score big in APT Vietnam HR
The ever-popular Asian Poker Tour (APT) started 2019 on a good note by hosting the APT Vietnam Kickoff at the Pro Poker Club in Ho Chi Minh City. Yesterday, the APT declared its Main Event champion and it was India’s Abhinav Iyer who made his biggest live cash of VND 2.269 billion (~INR 69.52 Lakhs). A lot of Indian participation was seen throughout the APT Kickoff and another event to conclude yesterday was the APT Vietnam High Rollers.
The event had a buy-in of VND 53,750,000 (~INR 1.64 Lakhs). A total of 89 entries were seen in the event and 4 Indians progressed to Day 2. Meherzad Munsaf was in the mix but got busted just before the money bubble at 18th with 15 places being paid. Vinod Megalmani, previous Spartan Millionaire winner, also busted on Day 2. Both Munsaf and Megalmani ran good on Day 2, but unfortunately didn't recieve a pay-out.

After a few hours of exciting poker action on Day 2, Baadshah Gaming’s Madhav ‘Maddy’ Gupta ended a good run in 4th place, taking home a cash prize of VND 386,147,000 (~INR 11.84 Lakhs). Gupta is a popular figure in the Indian circuit and has played plenty of live events over the years. Gupta also earned a pay-check at the 2018 WPT India Main Event in November last year, finishing 17th.
Soon later, Dhaval Mudgal busted in 3rd place, earning a handsome cash prize of VND 534,621,000 (~INR 16.39 Lakhs). Vietnam would be the go-to place for Mudgal now, shiping WPT Vietnam ME back in October 2018. This will be another huge addition to his bankroll, and we may see more of the veteran during the series which ends on 20th January.
Iori Yogo, Japanese pro and winner of APT Finale Championships Event last month, also earned VND 176,984,000 for his 7th place finish in the High Rollers. Gutshot recently conducted an exclusive interview with Yogo which you can read here.

A total of 15 places were paid in the event, out of which Vietnamese pro Binh Van Ngoc won the tournament for VND 1,153,551,000 (~INR 35.36 Lakhs). The winner will be looking to make the most of his earnings this year, having received a major boost in his recorded live cashes, which were just over $5k till now.
