'downosaur' wins final tournament of Spartan Super Series
The Speedster is an INR 5 lakh GTD tournament that takes place on The Spartan Poker every Sunday. It is one of their more popular tournaments and it was included in the schedule for the most recent edition of the Spartan Super Series (SSS), which concluded last night.
SSS Event #37 Speedster INR 5 Lakh GTD was the last scheduled tournament of the SSS, kicking off after the Sunday SuperStack (won by Rajat Sharma) and the prestigious Main Event (won by Phanindra Akkina). The INR 1,100 re-entry tournament attracted a total of 496 entries by the end of the late registration period.
This prize pool was eventually shared among the top 45 players with a minimum cash of INR 2,750. The field seemed to be slightly on the softer side, with most of the big pros playing the higher buy-in tournaments of the night. Eventually, the player who came out of top of the field and took away the top prize was 'downosaur'.
Many players would've since this tournament as a chance to come into the limelight and this time it was downosaur, who won INR 95,000 for the top prize. He beat 'LoveCheese' in heads-up, who settled for the runner-up prize of INR 68.750. Both players wished to stay anonymous after this tournament.
The tournament ended today morning at exactly 3am in Level #54, with the blinds at 22,500/45,000 - 4,500. 'downosaur' had a 4:1 chip lead over his opponent and he saw the perfect opportunity to go on to win the tournament when he was dealt pocket Nines in what became the final hand of the tournament.
LoveCheese was dealt Ah 6c in this hand and he decided to go all-in before seeing the flop in this final hand. 7d 4s 7s Th Kc meant a pair of Sevens on the board, but downosaur was ahead at the end of the hand with Nines and Sevens, which won him take the pot and the title.
