EPT National Day 1B: Raman Gujral progresses in Barcelona
European Poker Tour (EPT) is among the most loved poker tours across the world and their most recent stop in Casino Barcelona kicked off a couple of days back. Yesterday was the start of the extremely popular €1,100 EPT National, a tournament which has been a fixed part of their schedule in recent times.
Two starting flights were played out yesterday, with a couple of Indians progressing from Day 1A earlier, including Joey Saha who finished among the top 5 chip stacks. On Day 1B as well, we had a few Indian players in attendance like Rajat Sharma, Rahul Melwani and others.
However, only one Indian bagged chips to return on Day 2 and that was Raman Gujral also known as the grandfather of the Indian poker industry because he's been around since the start. Here, he was among the 606 entries that signed up on Day 1B and since only 15% of the field would go ahead, 91 survivors progressed including Gujral who took ahead a stack of 255,000 chips.
The chip leader from this flight turned out to be UK's Louis Salter who progressed with 553,000 chips among many known poker names from around the world. These included Sonny Franco (546k), PSPC Bahamas winner Ramon Colillas (258k), Natalie Teh (159k), and others.
