'fake news' wins The Flash on Spartan
The Spartan Poker hosts high guarantee featured poker tournaments each day of the week, and yesterday, it was The Flash that took place at 7:30pm IST - a re-entry tournament with a buy-in of INR 4,400 and a guaranteed prize pool of INR 10 lakh, with this guarantee almost always being beaten.
Yesterday was no different as 313 entries registered to the tournament and a new prize pool of INR 12.52 lakh was generated and shared among the top 23 places with a minimum cash of INR 14,523. The tournament ran for 5 hours and 33 minutes before coming to an end early this morning.
Poker in India is being promoted as a game of skill rather than one of luck, and when players make consistent finishes, it proves this point very strongly. The Flash was shipped by 'fake news' last night, someone who has been making consistent runs in major tournaments online, the biggest of which was shipping last month's 2.o.K. tournament on Spartan.
The player made a good addition to his/her poker bankroll, by taking home the top prize of INR 2,91,090 last night. Finishing as runners-up was another player who has been making some deep finishes. 'Mishtabond' won INR 1,97,190 for finishing second, after shipping the SSS Sunday SuperStack title just a few days ago.
The tournament came to an end in Level #44, with the blinds running 21,000/42,000 - 5,250 and fake news gaining a chip lead of 4:1 over his opponent. In what became the final hand, fake news went all-in pre-flop with Qc Td, and Mishtabond made the call with Qd Kd, clearly ahead before the flop. However, the board opened 3s Tc 2h Th 6d which gave fake news three of a kind Tens, which was much better than Mishtabond's hand, as fake news took down the title.
