FIFS postpones GamePlan 2020 due to Coronavirus
The coronavirus fear is at a peak after the dreaded virus has claimed over 3,000 lives, India probably has an innate shield against the epidemic. Although with the deadly virus reaching Delhi, the Federation of Indian Fantasy Sports (FIFS), the country’s self-regulatory industry body for fantasy sports has postponed the GamePlan 2020.
The third edition of the fantasy conference was scheduled on 5th March 2020 at the Le Meridien Hotel in New Delhi. The annual conference aims to provide a common platform to stakeholders across multiple industries to strengthen the rapidly growing fantasy sports industry.
FIFS earlier known as the Indian Federation of Sports Gaming (IFSG) notified all the attendees through an email saying that due to the recent cases of coronavirus, the platform is forced to reschedule GamePlan 2020. Truly, the fear of the virus has taken over the entire world, impacting casinos, live poker, Olympics and much more. The decision was taken by FIFS after Delhi recorded its first coronavirus case. The shared email said that keeping in mind the health and safety of all delegates and stakeholders planning to attend the event, “it is important that we do not put them at risk and further spread of the virus.”
GamePlan 2020 was about to witness two highly engaging panel discussions. Firstly, how fantasy sport is supporting the growing sports ecosystem in India. Secondly, how fantasy sport is fuelling the growth of supporting businesses and vice versa. This year, the GamePlan was expecting over 250 senior industry delegates including India’s first gaming unicorn, Dream11 followed by MyTeam11 and My11Circle. India TV Editor in Chief Rajat Sharma was the guest of honor. NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant was to be the keynote speaker and Chief guest.
According to the organizers of the event, the revised date of the GamePlan 2020 will be shortly shared. However, it is still unclear whether the rescheduled plan would have the same speakers.
