Gaurav Sood wins Mega Suits; Kunal Patni bags Millions
Adda52 also, along with other leading platforms, hosted their best weekly offerings yesterday, banking on the fact that the day is mostly a work-off day for the poker community in India. Their regular tournaments Mega Suits and Millions 6-max saw some of the gems of poker community playing. Here’s a round-up of what happened yesterday:
Mega Suits INR 30 Lakhs GTD
For a mid-ranged buy-in of INR 5,500, the event attracted a sizeable playing field. Top 55 places were paid in the tournament for a min-cash of INR 13.5k. Gaurav Sood aka ‘gauravarod’ took home Adda52’s biggest weekly title and pocketed INR 7,20,000 as the first-place cash prize.
The grind for Sood must’ve been fulfilling since he railed best Indian WSOP Main Event finisher Nishant Sharma aka ‘dojingbullets’ in heads-up and took home the cash prize clean. Sharma later settled for INR 4,20,000 as the runner-up prize money.
Sood is in top form recently, and especially this year. He began the year on a high note and won PokerStars Super Tuesday in January. Since then, he won two more titles and ran deep in some online tournaments. He won Wanderers on 9stacks in early this month and bested his 9stacks score later in the month by winning Sunday Stacks for over INR 2.9 Lakhs.
He is no doubt a decent regular grinder in the community but his run in the past few months has been impressive. He is a budding young poker player and will come as no surprise if he ships an extra few titles in coming months. "It was a tough final table but I had a 4x chip lead with 9 left so things were easier. This is the biggest score I have got and have ran deep in Adda tournaments and Mega Suits itself a lot so feels good shipping it outright," he said after the win.
Rounding up top 3 in Mega Suits was Rajat Sharma aka ‘oshoswami’ for INR 2,85,000, having simultaneously won PokerStars Highroller last night. Other regs to finish in the money included Rohit Mishra (7th), Sriharsha Doddapaneni (9th), Neel Joshi (13th), Srihari Bang (19th), Siddharth Singhvi (36th), Varun Gupta (37th), Arjanveer Chadha (42nd), last week’s Godfather winner Raag Fernandes (46th), Nikita Luther (47th), Shravan Chhabria (53rd), and others.
Millions 6-max INR 20 Lakhs GTD
Adda52 Pro Kunal Patni aka ‘KunalPatni’ topped the Millions field yesterday, earning a cool INR 3,77,142 as the first-place cash prize. He earned the amount after a 4-way deal with ‘ayush706, ‘sara1501’ and ‘soundfsilenz’. The runner-up ayush706 saw himself earn INR 3,70,029 as his part of the chop.
Patni has been playing poker since a long time and if poker had something like a ‘Grandmaster’ title as in chess, he would’ve easily made it in the list. His achievements on live and virtual felts have been staggering. He has played at numerous poker hotspots in Asia and even made the pilgrimage to WSOP multiple times. He has over $400k in live cashes till date and stands as an inspiration to many aspirants in the community.
Some regs to finish in the top 19 paid places were Sajal Gupta aka ‘sa_jal’ (9th), Shravan Chhabria (10th), Pranav Khandalkar (11th), Deepak Bothra (15th), Guneet Kwatra aka ‘guntz’ (18th) and others. Talking about the victory, Patni said, "It was my 3rd Adda Millions win and it feels great to ship it a third time. My last Adda Millions win was back in Jan 2018. So it’s great to ship it after nearly 14 months. Was a reasonably easy win for me as I became the chip leader early in the tourney and surprisingly maintained it right till the end."
