Hamish Crawshaw wins WPT Vietnam 2019; Adi Agarwal ends 5th

We've had six intense days of poker action in the VND 15 billion (~INR 4.6 Crores) GTD World Poker Tour (WPT) Vietnam 2019 Main Event which registered 373 entries and a record-breaking sum of VND 18 billion (~INR 5.6 Crores) in the prize pool.

Finally, New Zealand’s Hamish Crawshaw crushed 5 others on the final table. Crawshaw was presented with his first ever WPT titled trophy, 1500 points towards the Season XVIII Asia-Pacific leaderboard and an ambitious amount of VND 3,782,723,000.

Crawshaw ran deep among the finalists, shining amidst the 5 poker pros struggling on their final day. He is ranked 9th in New Zealand’s All-Time Money List and increasing his total live earnings to $700k. Crawshaw emerged successful by earning his first major victory in Vietnam.

Indians are never far behind, a total of 20 Indians were witnessed on Day 2 but only 5 advanced to Day 3; among them PokerStars Pro Aditya Agarwal marked the tournament with his phenomenal performance after finishing 5th, the sole Indian participant heading to the final table and finishing with 1,205,000 chips for INR 26.5 Lakhs.

Crawshaw’s path to success was a tough journey. The heads-up match with chip leader Huynh Tan Dung on Day 3, who was eventually caught bluffing the turn and river. The final showdown lasted for 4 hours and Crawshaw came out with flying colors.

Crawshaw expressed, “I am pretty happy. It is good to finish the series like this and celebrate afterwards.”

The Asia-Pacific WPT 2019 has become the richest tournament of Vietnam. This festival finally took off with great number of participants from Asian region and beyond.
