Hong Kong's Anson Tsang wins maiden WSOP gold bracelet
The 2018 World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) is reaching its business stages at the moment, with just a couple of tournaments left before the series winds up. It has been a very successful series so far, with the guarantees being passed in most events, including Event #7: €2,200 Pot-Limit Omaha 8-Handed, which was one of the most recent to conclude at the Kings Casino in Rozvadov.
The €200k guarantee was nearly doubled to €358,853 thanks to a field of 187 entries that turned up to play this PLO tournament. Eventually, it was Hong Kong's Yan Shing 'Anson' Tsang who outlasted all those entries to win the tournament and the top prize of €91,730 ($105,428).
Tsang and Russia's Ilya Bulychev were first and second in the chip lead after Day 1 and Day 2, so it was no surprise to see these two players continuing the dominance on Day 3 and eventually reaching heads-up. Bulychev took away the second-place prize of €56,684. The top 29 players were paid out a minimum cash prize of €3,147 and no Indians finished in the money.
Even though Tsang has over $2.4 million in live cashes, this was his maiden WSOP gold bracelet. "Actually, I play hold'em, PLO and all the mixed games, but the mixed games was the first time that I played in Las Vegas. PLO and hold'em tournaments I play quite a lot. Yes, I always play for the win. I think there is an edge for me, because some players may be very concerned about ICM," he said after the win.
Final table results:
- Anson Tsang - €91,730 (~INR 76.42 lakh)
- Ilya Bulychev - €56,684
- Jason Gray - €39,508
- Quan Zhou - €28,100
- Ludvig Sterner - €20,405
- Hokyiu Lee - €15,134
- Gisle Olsen - €11,469
- Alexander Norden - €8,886
