Ivan Leow Wins 2018 OPC Macau High Roller
The Poker King Club announced the inaugural Oriental Poker Championship (OPC) Macau that was scheduled to take place between 23-28 May 2018 at the Venetian Macau Resort & Hotel. Apart from the Main Event, 10 action packed side events were to take place during these six days and one of them was the 2018 OPC Macau High Roller Event.
The second event of the tournament was the 2-day HKD $100,000 buy-in High Roller. Registration to the event ended on Day 2 and a total of 43 entries were recorded, generating an HKD 4,003,300 (~$510,115) prize pool. 26 players made it to Day 2 of the event and Malaysia's Ivan Leow was eventually crowned champion!
Poker pros from around the world registered to the tournament and Leow topped all of them, bagging a massive prize of HKD 1,442,300 (~$183,740) for first place. The month of May has proved to be a great one for the Malaysian so far, finishing sixth in two events in the recent Triton SHR series in Montenegro and taking home combined winnings of over $450k.
This win was a special one for Leow as it was his first ever live poker tournament title, which also became the second best live cash of his career, taking his lifetime earnings past $750k. He went into heads up with a 2:1 chip lead over China's Yang Wang and the former's pocket nines turned out to be superior to Wang's queen-deuce in the final hand.
