Jessica Dawley wins WSOP Ladies Championship
The World Series of Poker has a ladies-only event each year to promote the sport among women as well. It was great to see a massive field of 696 entries registered to Event #57: $1,000/$10,000 Ladies No-Limit Hold'em Championship, which created a prize pool of over $600k.
The 3-day event ended earlier today, with Jessica Dawley from USA being crowned champion for overcoming this big field, for which she was awarded a prize of $130,230 for first place. The final table was an all-American affair, indicating where a majority of the field was from, and eventually, Dawley bagged her first WSOP gold bracelet.
"I can't even put into words. It has not hit me yet. I kept picturing myself as I was sitting here, I kept looking at these boxes of everyone in their bracelet photos, and I honestly kept trying to get my head straight with that. Looking at those pictures, I was like: 'I just really hope that that's me at the end of the day.' I'm just really happy. It's been a grind for the past ten years, so I'm happy to have something to kind of commemorate that,” said Dawley after having to wait many years or her first bracelet.
This prize money became her highest in live poker and she took her career winnings past $700k. We expect to see her buy-in to a few more WSOP 2018 tournaments now that she has an increased bankroll. She first took part in the Ladies Championship way back in 2011 and this was her fourth cash in this event.
Final table results:
