Kunal Patni, Siddharth Karia make COLOSSUS Day 3
Event #61: COLOSSUS - $400 No-Limit Hold'em was one of many WSOP 2019 events that broke participation records. Here, we witnessed 13,109 entries across two starting flights which became a COLOSSUS record while a total field of 11 Indians were in action today on Day 2, with Kunal Patni leading 3 Indians from 1A and Sriharsha D leading 8 Indians from 1B.
All of the 1,951 runners to play Day 2 today were in the money, each receiving a minimum prize of $600. Many of our Indian heroes fell out of contention today, including Atul Nagpal in 1737th ($621), Madhav Gupta in 1288th ($689), Nishant Sharma in 970th ($804), Aman Kejriwal in 962nd ($860), Vivek Rughani in 763rd ($1,008), Shravan Chhabria in 704th ($1,008), Sriharsha Doddapaneni in 430th ($1,521), and Rohan Dhawan in 387th ($1,719).
Towards the latter stages of the day, we also had Jaswinder 'Bobbe' Suri hitting the rail in 285th place for $2,246. Playing under the name 'Furiosaa', Suri also cashed a small prize of $1,014 for finishing runner-up in a $10 buy-in online tournament on WSOP.com just the previous night.
This left just two Indians still in the mix including Siddharth Karia and Adda52 Pro Kunal Patni. The latter is among the top poker players in India with several major cashes overseas and there's a high chance he cashes big in this tournament as well. He finished Day 2 among the top 15 chip counts with a massive stack of 9,625,000 chips to his name.
Just around 107 players are still in the running to win a gold bracelet in the COLOSSUS event and Patni will start with an advantage tomorrow on Day 3, currently well above the average stack of 3.7 million chips. As for Karia, he progressed with 2,300,000 chips which is slightly below the average, but he will look to chip up early tomorrow. All players will receive a minimum of $3,022 for 107th place when they return tomorrow. Currently, the chip lead is with William Davila who has a gigantic stack of 17.9 million chips.
