Kunal Vohra beats Ashish Munot to Spartan Head-Hunter title
Spartan Poker hosts featured tournaments throughout the week and their Thursday feature used to be Flash until it was replaced by the Head-Hunter INR 10 Lakh GTD event which is a bounty tournament. The tournament is scheduled for Thursday at 7:30pm and the buy-in associated with it is INR 5,500.
In just the handful of Head-Hunter tournaments hosted on Spartan so far, we have seen a brilliant response to the bounty tournament and yesterday was another example where 225 entries got together to crush the guarantee and create a new prize pool of INR 12,25,000. This was eventually shared by the top 23 players with the min-cash being INR 11,600.
It was just a couple of days prior that Ashish Munot, who plays as 'Donkey 07' on Spartan Poker, made a deep run to take down the Tuesday featured tournament called Mega Stack. Last night, he ran deep once again, but this time couldn't get past one player, finishing second for another healthy bankroll addition of INR 1,64,500 which includes 7 bounties.
The player he couldn't outlast was Kunal Vohra aka 'kvohra' who took down the title and also the biggest prize of the night - INR 2,48,500. Vohra has a won a few titles in the past across various platforms, but this win would easily rank among his best because of the tough field he had to get past.
If his heads-up opponent wasn't enough, some other top names to finish in the money last night included Chandan Arora (22nd), Siddarth Singhvi (19th), Arjanveer Chadha (17th), recent Mega Stack winner Mandar Madaye (16th), Kanishka Samant (15th), Sahil Mahboobani (13th), Deepak Bothra (12th), recent Destiny runner-up Abhishek Garg (9th), and Goonjan Mall (4th).
Talking about this victory last night, Vohra told Gutshot, "I'm super happy to have finally shipped one on Spartan Poker. I've been working on my heads-up game a lot in the weeks gone by since I’ve come second quite a few times in the recent past in the signature tourneys. I’d like to thank my friend Pranav Bagai who has been helping me improve my game over the last year."
In December last year, Vohra made a big score on PokerBaazi for shipping their SHR which was part of the PokerBaazi Premier League. For similar updates on the top online and live poker tournaments across the country, stay tuned to GutshotMagazine.com.
