Longsheng Tan Wins $1,500 NLHE Event

The excitement is increasing each day as the massive field of nearly 8,000 entries at the 2018 WSOP Main Event is getting smaller each day, with Day 4 coming to an end at the moment. However, there are other events also taking place at the World Series, like Event #66: $1,500 No-Limit Hold'em.

This tournament saw a total of 1,351 entries and a prize pool of over $1.8 million was generated. After 4 days of grinding, a winner was finally decided in USA's Longsheng Tan, who outlasted the final 6 players on the final day. He took advantage of his chip lead and converted it into his first WSOP bracelet win.

Tan is a real estate agent from China but he has made Vegas his home since a while now. He shipped this event for a career best score of $323,472 and even though he has live poker winnings of nearly $800k, he calls himself a recreational poker player. "When I have time, I sell a house. When I don't, I play poker," he said about himself.

He has earned over $500k in 2018 itself, including 4 WSOP 2018 cashes, so it looks like he could now make poker a full-time profession. "As long as I played my best, I'll take whatever result. I had to stay calm. At one point, my chips went down to where almost everyone had almost the same stacks. I told myself to calm down, play my hands, and play my best. I was a little bit tilted but still I calmed down and got it in the end. I feel good right now," he said after beating USA's Lanny Levine in heads-up.

Final table results:

  1. Longsheng Tan - $323,472
  2. Lanny Levine - $199,862
  3. Jayaram Kovoorchathoth - $142,785
  4. Trey Brabham - $103,212
  5. Adam Laskey - $75,497
  6. Stephen Bierman - $55,892
  7. John Pannucci - $41,884
  8. Georgiios Tavoularis - $31,775
  9. Jason Paradis - $24,409
