Marti Roca signs with 888Poker Spain
Poker companies are always looking to sign ambassadors who would help grow their brand in a particular country or around the world. With the cross-border shared liquidity taking place in Europe, poker room operators are gearing up for expansion in European markets and signing brand ambassadors is one good way to prepare for it.
Marti Roca de Torres is a Spanish poker pro who has been around the live poker circuit for nearly 5 years now. He has over $1.3 million in live poker earnings, a majority of which came from a WSOPE Event he shipped in Rozvadov last year, for €1,115,207 (~$1,297,552), beating 529 entries.
Recently, leading poker company 888Poker announced the signing of Marti Roca as their Spanish ambassador. The company is one of many who are preparing to combine player pools with European countries like Italy and Portugal. Roca, the 37-year old Barcelona native, was an economics professor who quit his job to pursue his passion for poker.
Roca tweeted last week to confirm the signing with 888Poker. He will be making his debut as the company's ambassador when he plays at the upcoming 888Live Barcelona, which is scheduled between 31 May and 4 June. After that, he will travel to Las Vegas and represent Team Spain as a part of 888poker’s 8-Team WSOP promotion. Last week, Niall Farrell also joined the promo, playing for Team UK. The winning team will receive seats to the $10,000 WSOP World Championship next month.
Ever since the historic shared liquidity agreement, several operators have been preparing for the expansion. PokerStars was the first to get a license, while French operator Winamax signed Italy’s Mustapha Kanit and Spain’s Adrián Mateos as their new ambassadors.
