Recently, Frenchman Jean-René Fontaine created headlines by taking home a career-best live cash for winning the EPT National tournament as part of the European Poker Tour (EPT) Barcelona tournament series. Then, the festivities continued as the €100k High Roller kicked off over the weekend, with the final 9 survivors still in play.

Some of the top poker pros from around the world took part in this tournament, with the steep buy-in attracting a total of 54 entries and Austrian poker player Matthias Eibinger holding the chip lead at the end of Day 2, with 3,040,000 in chips, followed closely by Mikita Badziakouski from Belarus.

A massive prize pool of €5,239,080 was generated, with only the top 7 players sharing the spoils, with a minimum cash prize of €275,050. Two more players will be eliminated today before we reach the pay-outs stage, but all the survivors will be eyeing that top prize of €1,650,300 (~INR 13.41 crore).

Some big names to bust during Day 2 include former #1 on the all-time poker earnings list and PokerStars Team Pro, Daniel Negreanu, who busted a while before the close of day's play. Other names include David Peters, Stephen Chidwick, Ivan Leow, Luc Greenwood, Michael Soyza and others. Soyza shipped the €10 High Roller around a week back.

Day 3 will resume later today, with the tournament currently at Level 19, and the blinds running at 30,000/60,000, with a big blind ante of 60,000. The start of play will be very tense, especially for Byron Kaverman, US poker pro who is currently the shortest stack on the table, with 610,000 in chips.
