Mayank Jaggi cashes out big in Wynn Summer Classic

The sport of poker is on a rapid rise in India and similarly, the participation of Indian players at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas has been increasing each year. Quite a few Indian players departed on their debut trip to Las Vegas this year, one of them being the popular Mayank Jaggi.

Jaggi is known for a few cashes in live Indian poker tournaments like DPT and IPC, and he is a regular winner in online poker. While most players have been trying their luck in the 2018 WSOP in Vegas, Jaggi was interested in the 2018 Wynn Summer Classic which took place at the Wynn Las Vegas.

The $1,100 NLHE Event kicked off on 26th June and after three days of grinding, a winner was declared in Greek origin US player, Athanasios Polychronopoulos, who has over $2.3 million in live cashes. Our very own Mayank Jaggi reached the final table of that event, cashing out in 6th position, for a massive $56,379 (~INR 38.68 lakh).

This turned out to be Jaggi's biggest live score by a long way and he quadrupled his career earnings as well, bagging the biggest score for an Indian player in Las Vegas this summer, after Nikita Luther's $87,902 for shipping the WSOP Tag Team Event a couple of days back.

The tournament had an advertised prize pool of $1 million but a massive participation of 2,197 entries was recorded, crushing the guarantee and more than doubling the prize pool, which gave Jaggi a prize much higher than what would've originally been given away for 6th place.

Final table results:

  1. Athanasios Polychronopoulos - $231,507
  2. Phachara Wongwichit - $204,728
  3. Stephen Ma - $204,404
  4. Ryan Stoker - $98,564
  5. Vincent Masino - $73,010
  6. Mayank Jaggi - $56,379
  7. Maziar Keshavarzi - $45,212
  8. Darren Elias - $37,365

This fantastic result for Jaggi may motivate him to register to a few WSOP events before returning to India, in particular the $10,000 Main Event, which is set to begin soon. Keep watching this space on GutshotMagazine.com for more updates on Mayank Jaggi and other Indian players at WSOP 2018.
