MCOP returns to Amsterdam for their 27th edition

One of the longest running tournament series in the world, the Master Classics of Poker (MCOP) returns to the Holland Casino in Amsterdam for the 27th year in a row. The series will be conducted between November 21st and December 1stwith a range of events totalling up-to 46.

The highlights of the MCOP 2018 series are the EUR 3,250 PLO High Roller on Nov. 22-23, the EUR 4,300 NLH Main Event on Nov. 23-30, the EUR 25,500 NLH Super High Roller on Nov. 24-25 and the EUR 10,300 NLH High Roller to be conducted on Nov. 29- Dec. 1.

The first Main Event of MCOP, dating back to 1992, was a Seven-Card Stud tournament, but since that year, the game of choice changed to NLH. This event was won by many notables in the past like the Indian Ram Vaswani winning it in 1999. Joran Storakers (2003) and Robert Mizrachi (2004) are some of the notables who won the main event previously.

The Main Event will feature two starting days and will eventually be spread out over the course of five days. The first day is on Nov. 23 and Day 1B commences on Nov. 27. There will be a field joining on Nov. 28and the winner will be declared on Nov. 30.

Last year’s Main Event champion was the German high-stakes grinder Claas Eyke Segebrecht, taking home EUR 235,087 (~INR 1.92 Crores) bounty and a special trophy plate featuring the MCOP insignia. He won the heads-up against Bard Lybaert to claim this prize. The 11-day festival will kick off with the all-time favourite two-day EUR 550 Single Re-Entry. The first of the two High Rollers, the two-day EUR 25,500 SHR will begin on Nov. 24 with unlimited re-entries uptill the start of Day 2.

The EUR 10,300 High Roller is a three-day event starting Nov. 29. Last year’s winner, Joris Rujis, took home EUR 206,242 (~INR 1.69 Crores) in cash after defeating Ole Schemion in heads-up battle and denying him his second victory. The MCOP will also witness some Pot-Limit Omaha (PLO) action during its run at the Holland Casino, featuring no fewer than four PLO tourneys. The biggest PLO event will be a 2-day EUR 3,250 PLO High Roller, beginning on Nov. 22.
