MyTeam11 joins Pro Volleyball League as fantasy partner
Another budding company in the Indian fantasy sports industry has made news recently. MyTeam11 has signed a deal with the first volleyball league in the country – RuPay Pro Volleyball League (PVL) – as its official fantasy partner for the inaugural season of 2019.
MyTeam11, which already has cricket and football offerings, will now add volleyball to its list after the deal with PVL. All the volleyball matches in the PVL will also feature MyTeam11’s banners on the field, which will be televised across the country.
MyTeam11 was founded in early 2018 by two friends Vineet Godara and Sanjit Sihag. Their website claims a user-base of over 1 Crore users. It further says “MyTeam11 is a platform that wants you to pursue your dreams by becoming a leader of your team and walking into the battlefield with your own team of superstars, showing off your skills.”
Talking about this deal, Godara, MyTeam11 CEO, said, “We are delighted to be associated with the RuPay Pro Volleyball League. We feel privileged to have it announced that we as a company took steps for launching fantasy volleyball and we believe that the sport will go on to become a favourite among the fans.”
Pro Volleyball League, sponsored by RuPay, is India’s maiden volleyball league. The initiative is a joint venture between Volleyball Federation of India and Baseline Ventures. Sony Network is the official broadcaster for the league and RuPay is its title sponsor. The League will begin today, with the first match scheduled between Kochi Blue Spikers and U Mumba Volley at Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium, Kochi.
Tuhin Mishra, MD and Co-founder of Baseline Ventures, who are jointly hosting the PVL with Volleyball Federation of India also spoke about the partnership saying, “There is a lot of excitement about the league and we are sure that our association with MyTeam11 as official fantasy partners will create even more excitement since MyTeam11 is synonymous to excitement.”
Sanjit Sihag, MyTeam11 COO, also weighed in on the partnership saying, “We have been receiving constant love from our users since our launch, and we thought of rewarding them with something new and unique, which they won’t find on any other platform. Also, with our user base, we believe we will able to help the sport (Volleyball) reach new highs in terms of popularity.”
Fantasy sports industry in recent times has seen enormous growth and many start-ups like MyCircle11 and KhelChamps are making its way into the industry, which currently sees Dream11 on the throne by a overwhelming margin. With established companies like Paytm also wanting a piece of the pie, there may be some intense competition to be witnessed in coming months.
