Negreanu-Lappin spat takes ugly turn on Twitter

Daniel Negreanu, 6-time World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet and 2-time WPT Championship winner, has recently come in the news for the wrong reasons. He was involved in a digital tussle with Chip Race podcast host David Lappin and Dara O’Kearney.

At the inaugural Global Poker Awards hosted by Global Poker Index (GPI) that happened last month, the Irish duo won the Podcast of the Year category but Negreanu had a problem with this decision and even said that it was rigged.

The back-and-forth digital battle between the duo and Negreanu started in January, when the latter put out a series of tweets involving desirable and undesirable attributes of a poker player and attacked the duo.

Lappin’s partner replied to Negreanu’s tweet calling him ‘creepy and misogynistic’. Here’s the reply and the original tweet:

Negreanu, who is also a PokerStars ambassador, denied talking about vote rigging but it’s on record on the podcast so his denial was ironical. Well-known pro Jonathan Little was also dragged into this spat but he cleared his opinions on the matter on twitter. Here’s his tweet:

In other news, Negreanu recently was engaged to his long-time partner Amanda Leatherman, announcing this on the joyous occasion of new year. Their union is expected to happen in this year though the dates and the location haven’t been decided yet. Though this year, Negreanu’s career as a professional poker player might take a back seat.
