Neymar delays BSOP tournament, finishes 6th a day later
There were a lot of Neymar Jr. jokes and trolls doing the rounds after Brazil's early exit from the World Cup and the ace footballer not being able to win the World Cup for his country. However, while he isn't scoring on the pitch, the striker is certainly scoring in poker tournaments.
Neymar has been associated with the game of poker since quite a while now. He was once a PokerStars ambassador along with Cristiano Ronaldo, before PokerStars switched to Usain Bolt and Kevin Hart. Just a couple of months back, he was in the news for playing online poker while his new team PSG won the French title.
All those hours of playing poker seems to be paying off for the Brazilian star, as he recently finished sixth in a BSOP (Brazilian Series of Poker) High Roller tournament. The series was scheduled between 20-24 July but had to be delayed but a day so that Neymar could attend a wedding.
Yes, you heard that right. Neymar reached the Final Table of the High Roller Event and had to attend a wedding the next day, at which he was the best man. After all the 8 contestants agreed to a 1-day delay and the organizers agreeing to pay for accommodation, the tournament was delayed for a day.
Coming out to play the final day of the BRL 7,000 (~INR 1.3 lakh) High Roller tournament, Neymar finished off in 6th place when he shoved all in with A 10. His opponent revealed pocket Jacks and with no A or 10 further opening on the board, Neymar Jr. was eliminated in 6th. It was a pretty impressive performance from him, given that there were nearly 300 entries, most of who were probably poker professionals.
Turns out Neymar may have another profession waiting for him after he retires from football. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for similar sporting and poker updates from around the world.
