omgrachelgreen ships SSS PLO HighRoller; heads Leaderboard
Get used to hearing the name 'omgrachelgreen' in the Indian poker circuit. While the player has preferred to stay anonymous after many big wins, it may not stay that way for too long. Yesterday, omgrachelgreen won yet another title, adding to the few that he/she has already taken down in the last month or so. This was probably the biggest win so far, shipping the SSS INR 20 lakh GTD PLO High Roller last night.
In the ongoing SSS series on The Spartan Poker, omgrachelgreen finished runners-up in one tournament, followed by winning the Mega Freeze tournament and taking an early lead on the SSS Leaderboard, where INR 10 lakh will be given away as additional prizes, including INR 4 lakh to the topper.
The player also won The Elite a week before the SSS began and it has been a fantastic month of August for him/her thus far. After Day 3 of the tournament, omgrachelgreen has maintained the top spot on the SSS Leaderboard. The player is making a habit of winning top online tournaments and you should watch out for this player, as he/she could just become the next best thing,
The player beat Vivek Rughani aka 'Pokerbatman27' in heads-up. Now we all know how good Rughani is, having recently finished 88th in the 2018 WSOP Main Event in Las Vegas. omgrachelgreen took away the massive top prize of INR 8,43,600, while Rughani won the runners-up prize of INR 5,47,600.
PLO may not be as popular as Texas Holdem, but this tournament surely did well on Spartan, with 148 registered entries to the INR 22,000 buy-in tournament and the guarantee being smashed. The new prize pool of INR 29.6 lakh was shared among the top 12 finishers, with a minimum cash of INR 66,600.
This was one of the highlight tournaments of the SSS series and omgrachelgreen will be extremely delighted with this win. The final hand took place in Level #38, with the blinds at 9,000/18,000 and the player having a lead of nearly 3:1 over Rughani. Finally, the player's Aces and Nines was better than Rughani's Aces and Eights.
omgrachelgreen also made a 7th place finish in the Destiny tournament which was shipped by Anant Purohit. Updated Day 3 SSS Leaderboard:
Gutshot caught up with the winner after this tournament ended. "Winning the PLO Highroller was quite an experience for me, because I don't play much PLO and my game is basically some very basic knowledge and a super aggressive approach which I feel generally works a lot. The tourney itself was very well structured and even short-stacks had a lot of time to pick their spots, so I didn't feel under pressure even when I was 22/22, and once I picked up a big stack I just applied pressure and it worked. I wish I could say more, but I really don't know PLO as well as NL, so I'll just chalk this one up to positive variance."
