Parminder Randhava wins final tournament on SSS Day 1
The Spartan Super Series, hosted by The Spartan Poker, was much-anticipated among poker players across the country. Yesterday was the first day of the August edition of the online tournament series and it was a successful first day, both for the players as well as for Spartan. Almost all the tournaments saw the guarantees being beaten, which meant that players took home bigger prizes.
The final tournament of the day was SSS Event #5 INR 5 lakh GTD, which began at 9:30pm IST and went on till the early hours of today morning. With a buy-in of INR 2,500, the tournament saw a healthy participation of 275 entries, which led to the guarantee being crushed and a new prize pool of INR 6,87,500 being created.
The top 23 players were paid out a minimum cash prize of INR 7,975 and the player who took home the biggest prize of all was Parminder Randhava aka 'Bounceez', outlasting these entries and winning INR 1,59,844 for first place. He finished as runners-up in the opening event and would've been determined to win a title. Indeed, he did!
This was the first Omaha tournament of the series and Randhava would've been delighted with this win, as it gave him enough of points to finish at #2 on the SSS Day 1 points leaderboard, only behind 'omgrachelgreen', who finished runners up in one tournament and shipped the Mega Freeze as well.
The tournament came to an end in Level #38, with the blinds at 9,000/18,000. Facing off against Randhava in heads-up was the villain straight out of the Bahubali film series, 'kattapa'. Facing a chip deficit of nearly 1:4, kattapa lost the final hand of the tournament with a J-high flush as compared to his opponent's K-high flush. He took home INR 1,08,281 for finishing second.
This tournament wrapped up SSS proceedings for Day 1. Check out the updated SSS Leaderboard here:
