PokerBaazi announces return of Baazi Poker Tour between 9-14 Oct
Not too long ago, the Indian poker community would've been complaining about the lack of chances to play live poker in the country. With unfavourable rules across the entire country and a recent crackdown in some cities too, the opportunities of honing live poker skills were reducing by the day.
However, we're suddenly looking at a packed live poker calendar in the country, with three major Indian poker brands taking to the waters of Goa, where they will run live poker games throughout the year. Adda52 has been running the Deltin Poker Tournament (DPT) successfully since a few years now, while Spartan Poker entered the scene a while back, announcing the return of the prestigious India Poker Championship (IPC).
Now, we have the third industry leader PokerBaazi who has decided to step foot into the live tournament scene, announcing the comeback of another popular tour called Baazi Poker Tour (BPT). Initially conceptualized by Jasven Saigal and PokerBaazi CEO Navkiran Singh in 2016, the tour was on a break for three years until this latest announcement.
The BPT will return to Goa for a tournament series between 9-14 October 2019 in the PokerBaazi LIVE poker room on board the Casino Pride 2. It was not too long ago that PokerBaazi announced taking over this poker room in partnership with another big name in Indian poker, Madhav Gupta aka 'Maddy'.
Known for their player-friendly policies, BPT has already finalized another player-friendly TDS policy of deductions only on net winnings at the series. While the schedule is yet to be announced, we expect huge turnouts as PokerBaazi has always aimed at going big in recent months, with GameChanger and other similar tournaments changing the game in online poker.
Goa is now set to be buzzing right through the year and we may very well see many poker pros making the move to the coastal state permanently in the next few months. DPT Goa is set to begin tomorrow, 31st July, while IPC makes a return between 11-15 September followed by BPT between 9-14 October and WPT India between 15-21 October.
Talking about the return of BPT, Madhav Gupta commented, “We want to continue to push for tourneys in India. Casino Pride had always been at the forefront in terms of favourable TDS terms of players. Pride Poker Room pioneered the idea for net tax and hope to push that through with BPT as well. Happy to see the revival of a player-friendly brand and look forward to great things. Incomes from games of skill like poker should be taxed on net overall winnings, and that’s what we have always tried to do in order that the players benefit.”
