PokerStars announces EPT Open Sochi
A lot of attention would have been taken off other poker tournament series with the buzzing action taking place every day at the 2018 World Series of Poker. However, once the WSOP ends, these smaller tours will be the ones to watch out for. A couple of days back, industry leader PokerStars announced another addition to the European Poker Tour schedule.
The EPT Open Sochi has been announced for later this year, with PokerStars giving away as many as 5 Platinum Passes at the series in Sochi, Russia. Each Platinum Pass is worth $30,000 and it allows a free entry to players for the PokerStars Players Championship in early 2019, in Bahamas.
PokerStars is yet to decide on the schedule of the series, but the dates have been confirmed as 21-29 September 2019. The dates for the Main Event have been scheduled for 25-29 September, while the High Roller will take place between 28 and 29 September. One of the 5 Platinum Passes will be awarded to the Main Event champion, to go with his/her prize money.
This will mark EPT's second stop at Sochi this year, after a successful tournament series in March 2018, where Arseniy Karmatskiy walked away as Main Event champion for a prize of RUB 27,300,000 (~$470k). Watch the action from that Main Event's final table right here:
The last stop saw a majority of Russian players only, and even the Main Event Final Table was dominated by Russian players, including one player from Armenia. This time, the guaranteed prize pool for the Main Event has been dropped to RUB 60,000,000 (~$1 million) after last time's guarantee of RUB 150,000,000 not being beaten.
Satellites to the EPT Open Sochi have now begun online at PokerStars, from as low as $22. Keep reading GutshotMagazine.com for all updates on the tournament series in Russia, and a full schedule as and when it is released by PokerStars.
