Portugal's Diogo Veiga Wins $3k NLHE Event
Yesterday, we spoke about Event #54: Big Blind Antes $3,000 No-Limit Hold’em at the 2018 World Series of Poker, as our very own Indian female poker player and Adda52 Pro Nikita Luther made a deep run in that tournament, ultimately finishing in 17th place and taking home around $18k in prize money.
The tournament continued on Day 4 earlier today and it was Portugal's Diogo Veiga who ultimately shipped the tournament, taking home a massive cash prize of $522,715. It was entertaining stuff at the Brasilia poker room, where a Portuguese rail was getting behind their player, who won Portugal's third overall WSOP gold bracelet.
Personally, it was Veiga's maiden WSOP gold and his second highest live poker cash, following $555,144 he earned just a couple of months back for finishing 6th in the partypoker LIVE MILLIONS Barcelona Main Event. It was his first WSOP cash of the series and he took his career winnings past $1.4 million, a majority of which has come in the last couple of months.
After his win, a very excited Veiga said, “Perhaps now I’ll see what more there is I can play. The strategy won’t change. I had 15 tough days before, but now, this is a turning point. I’m going to play the Main Event and just see what happens. It’s still going to be a great summer.”
He defeated USA's Barry Hutter in heads-up, while yesterday's chip leader Jonathan Abdellatif finished in 4th. Hutter is a pretty experienced player with over $4 million in live cashes and he will be a pretty happy man himself, walking away with a career best live score of $323,019.
Final table results:
- Diogo Veiga - $522,715
- Barry Hutter - $323,019
