Rajat Sharma takes away top honours on INSCOOP Day 1
There was a major announcement made by PokerStars India around a week back, with the Indian version of the popular SCOOP online poker series being launched. The India Summer Championship of Online Poker (INSCOOP) was launched with 92 tournaments scheduled between 13-27 May with INR 4.1+ Crore in guaranteed prizes.
Yesterday was Day 1 of the series and six different tournaments were hosted, along with the first of 15 starting flights of the INR 1 Crore Main Event. INSCOOP #03 Battle Royale Special Edition INR 15 Lakh GTD was the highlight event of the day, and it was the popular face of Rajat Sharma aka 'sharabikebabi' who walked away victorious.
The tournament began at 8pm last night and had a buy-in of INR 5,500, attracting a total field of 272 entries. The progressive bounty format is a popular one on PokerStars and eventually, 47 places were paid out yesterday with a min-cash of INR 5,509. Bounty prizes for eliminations made were separate.
Before Sharma went on to win the tournament, there were quite a few other regulars who busted their stack including Rubin Labroo aka 'kornkid4' (45th), Abhishek Garg aka 'TheGrinder333' (39th), Lakshpal Singh aka 'b00MTilt23' (29th), Harsh Dembla aka 'kakori kabab' (19th), and others.
Rajat Sharma is a regular winner across all platforms and PokerStars has also become one of his favourites in recent times. In fact, it was just last month that he won this exact same tournament for nearly 2 lakh rupees. This time, the guarantee was increased, and he managed to bag INR 2,64,388 in prize money, including INR 1,49,608 from the tournament prize pool and the rest from the bounty prize pool.
Sharma seems to be a big fan of the bounty format and last night, he beat 'vinaash' in heads-up, who won around INR 1.65 Lakh for finishing second. Plenty of tournaments are still to be played on the INSCOOP schedule and you can check all the major updates here on GutshotMagazine.com.
