Rubin Labroo claims PokerBaazi's BSS SuperStack title
People talk about poker being a game of luck, and not one of skill. How then do some players consistently win poker titles online as well as live? Clearly, there is a huge amount of skill involved in the game and that's why there are several players like Rubin Labroo, who are earning lakhs of rupees from this game.
Yesterday was the famous Sunday grind for Indian poker players, and the Delhi-based Labroo aka ‘kornkid’ decided to register to the INR 15 lakh GTD SuperStack tournament on PokerBaazi, which is part of their BSS (Baazi Super Sundays) promotion. There was a healthy participation of 345 entries in this INR 5,500 buy-in tournament, and this broke the guarantee, generating a new prize pool of INR 17.25 lakh.
Labroo came out on top of this tough field and he was handsomely rewarded for this effort, taking away the top prize of INR 3.45 lakh. Finishing second in the tournament was Varun Gulati aka 'Vg_007', who didn't get the title, but still got a handsome pay-out of INR 2,54,437, after recently also finishing second in Spartan's Triple Bubble tournament.
As for Labroo, this was another addition to his poker achievements, the most recent being a live tournament victory in Bangalore on Independence Day and then a WPT Vietnam package on PokerDangal. This would've been another useful addition to the player's bankroll, now becoming a force to reckon with in the Indian poker industry.
Gutshot caught up with Labroo after we got the news of him shipping this tournament. He said, "It feels great to ship a tournament on a high variance day like Sunday. PokerBaazi tournaments have great structures as usual, and this was a much-needed win for me."
